The Movement
"...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
The mission of the Drive-by Prayer Vigil is for Christians to respond to the crime and violence in our streets through the effective and powerful vehicle of prayer, praying down the perfect order of heaven into the realm of earth. We believe we have the ability to fight against crime and violence by battling the spiritual forces responsible for the actions of human perpetrators. "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12 Drive-by Prayer Vigil is a citywide response of prayer to the senseless violence that is claiming the lives of both the young and old throughout our communities. Although birthed from a local city's crisis, it has plans to spread nationwide. No city or town is exempt from this rising epidemic, however, every city and town holds the solution: the power of prayer. One united voice rises for one shared problem! Our adopted slogan, "If drive-by guns can kill, then drive-by prayers can heal" sums up our mission and purpose. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10 We declare peace in the streets! We declare safety for our families! We declare life over death! We declare it all in the name of Jesus! Join us, by standing united in prayer, passionately gripped to see His promise fulfilled: the healing of our land (2 Chronicles 7:14). To the senseless violence in our city, we say 'enough is enough!' Now is the time for the Church, those young and old, to go beyond the comforts of the four walls of the church building and shine the light and life of Christ where death has left an impression. It's time to bring healing where there are wounds, truth in the midst of confusion, and the Gospel of peace where there is chaos. We won't sit back and allow violence to grip our city, we will act to see the hope of God and the peace of God in our city. It’s time to give life where a life has been taken. For every life taken down, a new life rises up in a new found faith in Christ Jesus, the Prince of Peace. |
