Remedy: a medicine, application, or treatment that relieves or cures a disease.![]() "..we were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other." » Titus 3:3 The truth of this scripture is seen when the Drive-By Prayer Vigil goes out to the streets: those who have been senselessly murdered by someone completely out of control, self-centered, and a slave to lawless living, envy, and jealousy. These feelings, wreaking havoc on the heart and mind, have the ability to seed within a heart a hate that would influence murder. It not only destroys the victim, but the perpetrator as well. Jesus said this in his teaching: “You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment!" » Matthew 5:21-22 Have you been guilty of being angry at someone or holding a grudge? Think about how no one had to teach us to be disobedient. Things like lying and stealing seemed to come almost naturally. The Bible says that we were born in sin. (Psalm 51:5) Sin means to miss the target. We were born corrupt, completely opposite of the way God intended for us to live. Jesus said in Chapter 5 of the book of Matthew that we are all subject to judgement and eternal punishment by fire in place made for God's enemies: hell. "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard." » Romans 3:23 We are all subject to judgement: to stand before a blameless God and be given what we deserve for the sins that we have committed against him and one another. The Bible clearly tells us what the punishment for sin is: "For the wages of sin [evil actions] is death..." » Romans 6:23 God is furious at the violence and senseless murders that are claiming lives in our streets. He does not ignore it nor look past even the things that you and I have done. God is holy and just; He refuses to let sin go unpunished. The Bible tells us that we must all one day give an account to everything we have done while on this Earth. No matter what we do we cannot escape judgement. But...there is Good News! ...Romans 6:23 continues on to say: "...but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." » Romans 6:23 How can God still love you even though you have sinned against Him? And how can God, the perfect Judge, bring you to heaven, when you stand guilty before Him? This is how God can still love you... |
